Following a successful four-month deployment in Australia, the Spanish Navy ship ‘Cristóbal Colón’ (F-105) is heading home sailing through the Pacific Ocean. She made a port of call in Papeete (Tahiti) on 28-30 June. This is the largest island of the French Archipelago in the Pacific.

The frigate was welcomed by the Honorary Vice-consul of Spain, Mr. Diego Lao López and French military authorities. After the scheduled protocol visits to other civilian state and regional authorities, the ship hosted a luncheon attended by Rear admiral Denis Betrand, Joint Commander of the Armed Forces in the French Polynesia.

The visit coincided with the festivities of the French Polynesia Community Day, and the President of the Regional Government invited the F-105’s Commanding Officer and other crew members to participate in the parade through the main street of the capital city.

Once the ‘Cristóbal Colón’ was fully supplied, she left Papeete on the 30th and sailed towards the next stop, the port of Callao (Peru), scheduled for July 13th.
