A Spanish Marine Corps team, integrated into the Africa Partnership Station initiative, has participated in exercise ‘Obangame Express’

Spanish ‘Tercio de Armada’ marines, currently participating in the ‘Africa Partnership Station’ (APS) initiative, left Douala (Cameroon) on board the USS ‘Spearhead’ to take part in the counter-piracy and maritime security exercise ‘Obangame Express’.

The MC security squad of the oceanic patrol boat ‘Vencedora’ also participated in this exercise.

APS is an excellent tool to show the commitment of Spain in cooperative security, the promotion of confidence building measures and the enhancement of maritime security capabilities of Gulf of Guinea nations.

As part of this initiative, several activities and drills were conducted with personnel from the Cameroonian Navy; among them, tactics, target practice, personal defense and craft handling exercises.
