After concluding the maritime surveillance mission off the coasts of Nigeria, Benin and Togo, the OPV ‘Vencedora’ docked at Sekondi Naval Station (Ghana) in the western part of the Gulf of Guinea to conduct a series of joint activities.
The commanding officer of the patrol vessel, Lieutenant-Commander Miguel Jerónimo Perales, in collaboration with Sekondi’s authorities, organized several working meetings with the Maritime Operations Centre (MOC) to coordinate the details of the training activities to be conducted during the coming week.
As part of the existing cooperative framework between both Navies, a Spanish officer was assigned to the MOC and, at the same time, several Ghanaian Navy observers embarked onboard the OPV ‘Vencedora’ during the planned surveillance and maritime security operations.
Apart from the operational tasks themselves, other social and sports events are scheduled during the port of call of the ‘Vencedora’, intended to strengthen the bonds of friendship between members of both Services.
