The light transport ship ‘El Camino Español’ has just returned to Cartagena after providing the necessary logistic support to the two ongoing Spanish missions in the Eastern Mediterranean: the UN-sponsored operation ‘Libre Hidalgo’ in the Lebanon, and the ‘Patriot’ missile battery deployment in Turkey. The ship carried Army materiel and equipment.
The ship departed on April 8th and after a short stop in Valencia, proceeded towards Beirut and Iskenderun (Turkey) with scheduled logistic ports of call in La Valeta (Malta) and Civitavecchia (Italy).
The ‘El Camino Español’ is an Army transport ship manned by Spanish Navy personnel with home port in Cartagena Naval Station. She is usually employed for all type of Army shipping requirements.
