From the 6th to the 21st of June, a detachment from the Spanish Navy Hydrographic Institute conducted an expeditionary Hydrographic campaign in the northern coast of Spain (Asturias and Cantabria).
The team, made up of four people (1 officer, 1 NCO and 2 ratings) operated one of the unmanned surface vehicles recently procured for the Hydrographic Institute, the ‘VERIL 02’, to carry out bathymetric, oceanographic and naval chart surveys in the vicinity of San Esteban de Pravia, Tazones and El Puntal.
These surface vehicles are small craft (2 meter long and 1 meter wide) and are equipped with modern hydrographic systems to perform bathymetric surveys in port and swallow waters.
These surveys have been scheduled to update the Institute’s Cartographic Plan.
