The auxiliary oiler and replenishment ship (AOR) ‘Patiño’ and the F-100 frigate ‘Méndez Núñez’ have just returned to their home port in Ferrol (NW Spain) after integrating for two months into the Standing NATO Maritime Group Two (SNMG-2); more specifically into the Sub-Group TU.02, currently under command of Spanish Navy Captain Rubén Rodríguez Peña.

‘Méndez Núñez’ operated as flagship of the Group and has recently been relieved by her sister ship ‘Blas de Lezo’, while the ‘Patiño’ provided logistic support to all naval units of the Maritime Group, as well as to other Spanish warships deployed in the Mediterranean Sea like frigate ‘Canarias’ presently engaged in EUNAVFORMED Operation ‘Sophia’ fighting human trafficking in that area.

Both ships took part in the large international anti-submarine exercise ‘Dynamic Manta’ in Sicilian waters (Italy) and visited several ports in Greece, Turkey, Italy and Tunisia.
